Reflections on AI: what I really think

Five common myths about AI in business, from replacing workers to being infallible or making decisions on its own, and why they don't hold up.

Lately I've been spending a lot of time thinking about artificial intelligence. Not as an abstract concept, but as something that affects our day-to-day work at Namastech and, really, at almost any company. Every time I talk with colleagues, clients, or friends, the same myths come up, and they make me smile… or frown.

“AI is going to replace all workers”

I remember a meeting a few months ago with a development team, when someone said: “Don't you think AI is going to replace all of us?” I laughed, but then I gave it some thought. AI automates repetitive tasks, yes, but creativity, intuition, and the ability to make decisions are human. That's the part no machine can replace. At Namastech, we see AI as an ally that amplifies our talent, not as a substitute.

    “AI is infallible”

Another myth that surprises me. AI depends on data, and data isn't perfect. More than once we've reviewed a system's output and found errors that reminded us how important it is to supervise, question, and understand what AI tells us. Technology is powerful, but it's no substitute for common sense.

“Only large companies can use AI”

Recently, a local startup visited us and shared how they're using AI in small but strategic processes. I loved seeing that you don't have to be a giant to innovate with artificial intelligence. AI is within reach of anyone who knows how to look, experiment, and adapt.

“AI makes decisions on its own”

I always stress this with my team: AI has no consciousness or intentions of its own. Everything it does comes from human decisions: what data we use, how we train the models, how we interpret the results. That responsibility is what makes AI exciting and challenging.

“AI is just about technology, not ethics”

Nothing could be further from the truth. Every AI project has a real impact on people, on teams, and on society. That's why at Namastech we put ethics at the center, making sure technology always serves to improve processes and experiences, not just to automate tasks.

    My personal take

AI is neither magic nor a monster. It's a powerful tool, and we're the ones who make the difference: how we use it, how we understand it, and how we integrate its potential into our work lives and our projects.

I'm excited to think about the future and the possibilities it offers us. But it also reminds me that technology is only valuable when it serves people.
